Lesson 11Research Design
Ms. Ishadi Nilaweera

This topic was about what research is and how to do it well. Research means finding new ideas or using old ones in new ways to solve problems. It's done step by step by studying, collecting info, and thinking carefully. We must use facts, not just guess. We should be honest and not copy others work. A research paper has parts like title, authors, abstract, intro, methods, results, and conclusion. Title tells what the paper is about. Intro explains background and why topic matters. Literature review shows what others said. Methods say how we did study, who we asked, and tools used. Then results and their meaning. At end, conclusion and references. Abstract is a short summary at the start.

A research paper has parts like

🔸 Title – tells what the paper is about
🔸 Abstract – short summary of the whole paper
🔸 Introduction – gives background and explains the problem
🔸 Literature Review – shows what others have already said
🔸 Method – explains how the research was done
🔸 Results – what was found
🔸 Discussion – what the results mean
🔸 Conclusion – final thoughts
🔸 References – list of sources used

What i learnt 🎯

✅ What research is and how to do it.
✅ All parts of a research paper.
✅ Abstract and title are very important.
✅ How to explain the problem clearly.
✅ What a literature review is.
✅ How to gather and show data.
✅ Results and discussions must be clear.
✅ Always give credit and never copy.

What was interesting 💡

I didn't know each part of a research paper has its own job. Now I see the title and abstract are very important. The summary tells everything in just a few lines, which is cool to learn. Research isn't just for studying it can help others and make real changes. I think research is more important than I thought before.
